How do Dr. Foot® Silver Protect toe socks work?
The heel and toes are particularly susceptible to germs. That's why we've incorporated a naturally antimicrobial silver fibre into the forefoot and heel. When it comes into contact, it damages the outer layer of bacteria and fungi, weakening or killing them.
- The spaces between the toes are protected areas for bacteria and microbes. Favoured by poor ventilation in footwear and lateral compression in shoes that are too tight or conventional socks without toes, a warm, humid, dark greenhouse climate prevails here - ideal for harmful germs.
- Many microbes nest in the stratum corneum of the foot. As the heel and forefoot are subjected to the greatest stress during running, a callus forms here as a protective layer.
Common applications
- Improving your own foot hygiene in sensitive
areas (hospitals, nursing homes, etc.) - Odor control in poorly ventilated work shoes and boots
- Infection prevention in places with an increased risk potential for the feet, e.g. after visits to public baths, thermal baths, swimming pools, etc.
- Avoiding foot infections in diabetics and people with weakened immune systems
Frequently asked questions:
Are normal toe socks not sufficient?
Normal toe socks without silver fiber are already a step towards improving foot health. However, toe socks with silver thread can provide an additional boost of defense in situations where the feet are exposed to particular hazards.
How do they differ from normal socks with silver thread?
Conventional socks enclose the entire foot but ignore the shape of the toes. As a result, the toes are pressed together. In addition, there is a retreat and protection space for microbes between the toes, which is not only spared by the antimicrobial substance, but also promoted by pressing the toes together.
There is no silver thread mentioned in the material identification. Why?
The European Textile Labeling Regulation
How often can I wash my Dr. Foot Silver Protect before they lose their effectiveness?
We use a silver thread that does not lose its effectiveness. Even after 200 washes, 99% of the antimicrobial effectiveness is retained.
